We regret having to inform the membership of the passing of Brother Robert Horton on March 1st, 2025 at the age of 87. Bob Horton was initiated into Local 728 on March 14th, 1960 and was a member of Local 728 for 65 years. Brother Horton worked his way up the studio system from rigger to lamp operator on television and film productions. Eventually his expertise and management skills lead him to working in the Warner Brothers (then called The Burbank Studios) set lighting department, first as assistant set lighting department head and then as the department head. Bob retired in 1999 after a 39-year career.

Robert Clifford Horton, longtime resident of Burbank and staple of Warner Brothers Studios, passed away on March 1st in Sacramento surrounded by family and friends. “Bob” was 87. He is survived by his spouse of over 65 years, Connie Horton, daughters Laurie Horton and Julie Horton, and son Daniel Horton. Bob also leaves behind four grandchildren and three great grandchildren whom he cherished. Bob was born in Eli Nevada in 1937, moved to Salt Lake City until aged 15, then to Burbank where he graduated from Robert Bellarmine High School. Bob and Connie met at 14 and 15 respectively, living across the street from one another and becoming sweethearts ever since. Bob will be greatly missed!
Services will be held in Sacramento CA.
Tuesday, 3/18 there will be a rosary at St. Mary's Cemetery from 5-8. Wednesday, 3/19 will be a funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St John Vianney church. Then, Saturday, 3/22 There will be a celebration of life for Bob at his son's home in Rancho Cordova, Sacramento.
