The L.A. Labor Movement has shown true solidarity and fighting spirit during this time of crisis. In the past few weeks, we have been pushing for worker protections at all levels of government. We have been supporting our labor families who have been impacted by COVID-19 through informative webinars, resources, and food distributions. Since this crisis began, Los Angeles Labor has fed 7,359 working families through seven food distributions - with more scheduled in the weeks to come. We would like to thank all those who made these efforts possible: Labor Community Services, LA Regional Food Bank, Alma Family Services, IBEW Local 11, CA Senator Maria Elena Durazo and her office. We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of volunteers from dozens of locals and organizations who have been a crucial part of this effort. Thank you to Mayor Eric Garcetti for recognizing the Labor Movement's role in lifting up working families in Los Angeles. UNAC/UHCPUNAC/UHCP is asking the community and members to #staytheHEALTHhome and maintain social distancing to fight the spread of COVID-19. We know that the only way to beat COVID-19 is to follow social distancing practices, which include stay-at-home orders. If we prematurely relax our social distancing, we put our families, our neighbors, and our health care providers at risk. Now, it is time to prepare for the worst as the global COVID-19 pandemic surges. https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/stay-the-health-home-fight-the-spread-of-covid-19 Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO |
