Dozens of local residents joined with thousands of others in Springfield on Wednesday, May 18, to rally against the policies of Gov. Rauner and the resulting devastation that they are having on various institutions and the citizens of Illinois.   

Speaker after speaker criticized Gov. Rauner for his attack on the working families of Illinois and the damage that his "pro-business" agenda is causing for social service agencies, educational institutions, medical facilities, etc., and the impact it is having on struggling families, students, seniors, veterans, and so many others.

"Governor Rauner doesn't care about the hundreds of thousands of people who are struggling as never before because of his destructive policies," said Michael Carrigan, president of the Illinois AFL-CIO.  "All of this devastation is due to one man–a mega-millionaire who thinks his huge wealth means he should be able to impose his will on an entire state.  Governor Rauner is determined to ram through his extreme and harmful agenda and he doesn't care about how much damage he inflicts in the process."
