Joshua Thatcher started his lighting career in Austin Texas at The university of Texas, where he earned a BFA in lighting Design and Technology. He has been working freelance in area of lighting since 1992, but has been a member of IATSE Local 728 since 2000. Since a member of Local 728 he has worked on larger scale motion pictures and has been a part of the skills training for the local, specializing in lighting control and lighting technology. He has been recognized as a forward thinker in the use of new technology and implementation of new control concepts, including the use of wireless dmx systems and console networking as well as plotting and previz. He has been a part of LDI for the past 5 years. He works closely with manufacturers to develop and test it in real production situations. His most notable and recent credits include Iron Man 1&2, Star Trek, Cowboys and Aliens, Super 8, Pirates of The Caribbean : On Stranger Tide and Thor.
