How You Can Support Our LAUSD Teachers and Kids

Sections

On January 14, one of the most important labor actions of the decade will begin as more than 30,000 educators in LAUSD go on strike for smaller class sizes, more nurses and counselors, a fair wage, and accountability for charter schools. UTLA and its members are committed to improving learning conditions for our kids.

We have an opportunity to go beyond solidarity and engage in joint struggle, breaking down the barriers between “worker” and “community.” We are one.

Here are some ways that you and your members can support the strike:

Buy Union for holiday gifts, Thanksgiving

Sections

The 10 days following Thanksgiving are designated by the AFL-CIO as “Buy Union” week to encourage all union members to look for union-made goods and services when they buy for the Holiday Season. When you buy union, you’re supporting good jobs in American communities, jobs that provide living wages and benefits, safe working conditions and dignity and respect for work.
