California First Responders Say “No on Prop 11”

Sections

Prop 11 is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. While purporting to be about protecting public safety, it actually strips first responders of their right to meal and rest breaks, which makes their jobs more grueling and makes us all less safe. Thousands of California’s first responders are in jeopardy of losing their right to meal and rest breaks, worsening already difficult working conditions and potentially risking public safety.

No on Prop 5: Protect Schools and Public Safety!

Sections

As with many ballot initiatives, Prop 5 isn’t what it seems. Supporters are framing it as a measure to help with the housing crisis. Not even remotely true. What Prop 5 really is all about is lining the pocket of special interests at the expense of our schools, public safety and health care. One special interest in particular: Realtors.

What does Prop 5 do? The measure drains as much as $1 billion each year from schools, public safety and health care services just to give a few people over 55 who buy bigger, more expensive houses a huge tax break.

Workers’ inflation-adjusted wages have been flat for 40 years on average, even though productivity has more than doubled – because all the gains are going to owners and the top 1 percent of income earners. American workers need a come-back, and they need it soon.
