L.A. Port Strike Expands As NLRB Trial Enters 12th Day

Port drivers at Container Freight/California Cartage expanded an ongoing port worker strike Wednesday protesting violations of U.S. labor laws.

Some of the striking workers are being called from the picket lines for testimony in a National Labor Relations Board Trial of Chinese-owned Intermodal Bridge Transport entering its 12th day. That trial is a result of the NLRB finding merit in the drivers' assertions that they are illegally being mis-classified by IBT as independent contractors rather than as employees.

Port workers are engaged in a long-term battle to end labor law violations at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The violations include wage theft, mis-classification, harassment, retaliation and intimidation for union activity, wrongful termination and unsafe working conditions.
