Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa says Trump is making good on his campaign promise to withdraw the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
Hoffa says “With this decision, the president has taken the first step toward fixing 30 years of bad trade policies that have cost working Americans millions of good-paying jobs.”
Hoffa says the Teamsters union has been on the frontline of fighting the fight to stop destructive trade deals like TPP, NAFTA and others for decades. Organized labor in general has been sounding the alarm for decades about the jobs destruction and other harm these trade deals have inflicted on American workers.
Hoffa says the Teamsters hope Trump’s meetings with Canadian and Mexican leaders soon leads to a real dialogue about fixing the flawed NAFTA free trade agreement.
