Corporate Greed: Big Banks Need a Watchdog

Big Banks Need a Watchdog https://aflcio.org/issues/corporate-greed

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau safeguards Americans against the deceptive and abusive practices of big banks, student loan servicers, credit card companies and predatory lenders.

Decades of economic policies that favor Wall Street and corporate CEOs have created an economy that is dangerously out of balance. Corporate executives continue to line their pockets with our labor and ensure the rules are written to favor them. We cannot allow corporate greed to grow unchecked. We cannot allow the interests of the rich and powerful to dictate policies that have such profound effects on working families.

America’s working people deserve a voice in the rules of our economy. We believe increased accountability and responsibility must be required of our corporations and our capital markets. And we will continue to campaign for increased corporate accountability, be the leading voice in reining in executive pay and advocate for sensible tax policies that make sure corporations pay their fair share.

Did You Know
More than 25 of the country's biggest and most profitable companies paid zero in federal taxes in at least the past couple of years.

It seems that hard work doesn’t matter anymore. This is the corporate attitude.”
