UAW Local 6000 in Michigan is gearing up to resist an effort by the state to further restrict state worker collective bargaining. Local 6000 is strongly against the civil service collective bargaining rule changes and is urging all UAW members to attend a Civil Service Commission meeting in Michigan September 20th. The UAW International is helping the local mobilize against the collective bargaining restrictions. GOP Governor Snyder’s administrations wants to end collective bargaining for state workers over how overtime is paid, how workers are reassigned after layoffs and how performance pay is determined. The state also wants to give the Civil Service Commission power to change rules for employees even while negotiated contracts are in effect.
