Class Description:
With the constant influx of new lighting technology, Power Quality is more important than ever. Non-linear loads and low power factor devices can introduce harmonics and other issues into our distribution systems that can wreak havoc with electronic devices and cause issues with our power runs. This class covers various issues that affect the Power Quality of our sets, including harmonics from non-linear loads, voltage transients, and power factor correction as well as how to identify and mitigate these problems effectively. This class will explore the concepts of real power, reactive power, and apparent power, and how these concepts affect our day-to-day work lives. Planning for and managing Power Quality will result in your rigs running much more efficiently and safely, saving you from doing unnecessary work and endless headaches.
