Leaked Executive Order Will Harm Workers’ Rights on the Job

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka issued the following statement in response to a leaked executive order from President Donald Trump's administration:

Credible news outlets now are reporting a potential far-reaching attack on working people everywhere under the guise of religious freedom. The leaked executive order draft constitutes nothing less than a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people, women and workers of minority faiths.

French Union CGT Urges Air France Members Not To Work On U.S. Flights

The French union CGT is urging its members at Air France to resist Trump's immigrant ban by not working on U.S. bound flights.

CGT says "we invite all employees who are struck by these anti-humanist practices to refuse to treat US flights under these conditions." The union says members are within their rights to refuse to work on U.S. bound flights in protests over Trump's immigrant ban.

Hardee's, Carl's Jr. Workers File 33 More Labor Violations Against Andy Puzder's Company

Thirty-three new labor law violation charges were filed this week against CKE - Andy Puzder's fast food chain. Puzder is Trump's nominee for U.S. Labor Secretary, a job that's supposed to enforce labor laws to improve workers lives.

The charges include sexual harassment, wage theft through wage and hour violations and unfair labor practice charges.

Charges were filed at the NLRB, the EEOC and state labor departments across ten states.

Chicago Teachers Union, Community Coalition Demands Sanctuary Schools

The Chicago Teacher's Union is joining a diverse community coalition calling on the Chicago Public Schools to pass and implement sanctuary policies.

CTU says it is to "eliminate student criminalization, protect students from arrests and deportations" and support students by providing wraparound services and rapid response training and protocols for school personnel.

The teacher's union held a press conference in Chicago Tuesday to join with the community coalition in demanding safe sanctuary schools in Chicago.
