5-5-2020 OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard

As some states look to reopen their economies and send people back into workplaces, it is imperative that every entertainment worker has the right to a safe environment.
Unfortunately, the Labor Department continues to insist that no new standards or protections are necessary, and that safety should be left up to each individual employer.
The fact that the DOL wants to leave the door open and put workers at risk is abhorrent, and we believe no family should have to lose a loved one because of a lack of safety standards.

4-22-2020 IATSE Priorities for Subsequent COVID-19 Relief Legislation

To help support the Entertainment Industry’s professional workers, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) are urging congress to prioritize certain items in subsequent COVID-19 relief packages. One of the first priorities on the IATSE’s list is to require the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to issue an Emergency Temporary Standard to protect those performing essential work in news and media- such as converting facilities into field hospitals – from occupation exposure to infectious diseases, including COVID-19.

4-2-20 CARES ACT update

H.R. 748, the $2.2 T “CARES Act” was signed March 27, 2020. The document is 880 pages and moved through the House and Senate with bipartisan effort. Below are summaries of the relief provisions for individuals and small businesses of the Senate’s $2.2T trillion coronavirus aid. Some of the conditions in the CARES Act and the Family’s First Act are now being challenged. I will update as new relevant information becomes available.
