More than a hundred national organizations are calling on President Obama to use presidential pardon powers by "issuing a pardon for lawfully present immigrants with years-old or low-level criminal offenses."
Walter Barrientos is a lead organizer with Make The Road New York.
[Walter Barrientos]: "We're asking President Obama to exercise his executive power to pardon immigrants who have committed low-level offenses - and many of whom have many of these offenses on their records from decades ago - so that they will not be targeted for deportation under what we expect will be very aggressive immigration enforcement tactics under the Trump administration."
They say hundreds of thousands of immigrant families could be protected. And the new president could not undo presidential pardons.
