Fight For $15 November 29 Actions in 340 Cities To be 'Most Disruptive Yet' |
On November 29th the Fight For $15 movement will be on the march in 340 cities, with strikes, protests and civil disobedience demanding $15 an hour and a union. Fight For $15 says newly elected politicians and newly empowered corporate special interests are pushing America to the right. And that's why Fight For $15 will take to the streets November 29th planning to hit hard with civil disobedience actions. Fight or 415 says "any efforts to block wage increases, gut workers’ rights or healthcare, deport immigrants, or support racism or racist policies, will be met with UNRELENTING OPPOSITION." O'Hare airport workers in Chicago will strike November 29th as part of the national Fight For $15 mobilization. Raquel Brito is an O'Hare airport worker who will be striking November 29th. [Raquel Brito]: "My aunt and grandmother also work at O'Hare. All three of us make minimum wage. United and other airlines need to take responsibility and give us living wages to raise our families. We can create this opportunity for working families with a living wage of fifteen dollars, giving working families a raise and making sure airport jobs are good jobs." The Fight For $15 says thanks to the worker movement for $15 an hour and union rights 22 million workers have gotten raises. More than 10 million workers are on their way to phased in $15 an hour wages. |
