I regret having to report the passing of Brother Alex Schmidt after a long illness on October 2nd, 2024, age 53.

Brother Schmidt was a 23-year member of Local 728 having been obligated in July 2001.

Alex worked primarily as a lamp operator and rigger over the course of his career, but also worked as an underwater diving technician. He was certified with NAUI, the National Association of Underwater Instructors as an open water I scuba diver. Prior to joining Local 728, Alex worked as a welder technician diver.
