5-1-2020 Putting workers first -congressional legislation

As congress proposes new legislation to tackle the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, we must act quickly to ensure that any new legislation puts workers first.

That Includes provisions that preserve our access to quality healthcare, protect our hard-earned pensions, and fix the broken state unemployment systems that are delaying access to critical financial assistance to millions of working families.

5-1-2020 C.A.R.E. calls

With the IATSE C.A.R.E.S. (Coronavirus Active Response and Engagement Service) program well underway, we are now ready to roll out the next phase: C.A.R.E. calls.

With C.A.R.E. calls, we are on a mission to check in with every member. In these calls volunteers provide members with information about the various support initiatives available through the international. We will be attempting to sign up more Members In Need for our delivery system and buddy system, as well as drive members to our Financial Aid and mental health non-profit partners.

5-1-2020 Individual Account Plan Hardship Withdrawal

One of the many plan changes by Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans (MPIPHP) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was to approve a one-time hardship withdrawal from your IAP.

The Trustees of the Plans have been working to lessen the impact on members. 

For some, this isn’t something they want to dip into, for others, it is a lifeline. 

But for everyone, it’s part of your retirement funding. 

This is not something you want to do lightly.

5-1-2020 Post-COVID-19 restarting of the entertainment industry.

 

International President Loeb has been in discussions with labor leaders from other unions, studio heads, theater owners, promoters, government officials, the IATSE General Executive Board and Department Directors, and many of you regarding the post-COVID-19 restarting of the entertainment industry. He called upon the IATSE Crafts Advancement Program (ICAP) to create a set of uniform guidance documents for our union on returning to work safely in the age of COVID-19.

4-28-2020 IAP withdrawal application deadline

  Just to remind everyone, this Friday May 1, 2020, applications will be made available for the one time IAP hardship withdrawal. 

Below you will find the parameters for applying. 

Individual Account Plan Hardship Withdrawal Participants who are vested in the Motion Picture Industry Individual Account (“IAP”) as of the year ended December 2019 may apply for a one-time only special early withdrawal of an elected amount of need of up to 20% of their 2018 IAP account balance but not to exceed a maximum dollar limit of $20,000.

4-28-2020 Actor's Fund Assistance

Sisters, Brothers, Kin —

In this time of uncertainty around COVID-19, The Actors Fund is here for all IATSE members.

The Fund is distributing emergency financial assistance to help IATSE members in immediate financial need to cover basic living expenses, to help prevent evictions, and to pay for food, essential medications or utilities and more.
